of sorrow and cherished memories we are announcing that Dolores Ann Fry, 91 of Hebron, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, with family by her side.
Born in Yarmouth on July 13, 1933, she was the daughter to the late Clarence and Hazel (Raynes) Strickland.
She worked for many years with Fisheries and Oceans and retired as the Administrative Assistant to the Area Chief of C&P, SWNS.
Dolores loved to shop, and did so all year around for many occasions, especially Christmas. Christmas Eve was her most cherished of the holidays, particularly when her family gathered for the festivities at her home. Whether at a store or a yard sale, if you needed it or wanted it, she would find it somewhere in her travels!
Dolores was also an avid reader of varied authors and enjoyed travelling. She travelled to many places including Hawaii, England and Germany with many books on hand to read.
Dolores is survived by her children Susan (late Captain J. Terry) Riordon, Joy (Larry) Buchanan, Mark Fry. Stepson Richard Fry, Brother Wallace (late Pearl) Strickland. Grandchildren, Tracy, Liam, Jessica, George, Ray, Michael,Lonnie,Karen, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and cousins. Honorary daughter Doris Cumby, and dear friend Jane Pierce.
Besides her parents, Dolores was predeceased by her husband, George “Buzz” Fry, son Christopher Fry, Stepson George & Gail Fry, great-grandson Daniel Fitzgerald, Siblings Richard & Margaret Strickland, and Carolyn “Kit” Strickland. In-laws, Clifford & Grace Fry, Edith & Harold Hatfield, Dorothy “Tiny” & David Raynard, Myrtle “Tib” & Thomas Raynard.
The family would like to thank the staff at Nakile for their care, and the friendships she made during her time there.
A memorial service will be held Saturday December 21, at 1pm at the Ritchie Chapel in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery, with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot.
