It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected
passing of Hazen Malcolm Veinot, 82, of Auburndale, at South Shore
Regional Hospital on April 10, 2024, following his valiant, years long
fight against illnesses.
Born in Riverport on July 27, 1942, Malcolm was the beloved
son of Harry and Gladys (Emeno) Veinot. During his early years Malcolm
lived “up, down and across the LaHave” until 1972
when he purchased his present home in Auburndale, remaining there for
over 50 years until his passing.
He began his working

manager of the Chester Shamrock store. Starting in 1966 Malcolm served
for 33 years as Purchasing Agent for the Municipality of the District
of Lunenburg (MODL). In 1976, he graduated from the four year
Certificate Program in Municipal Administration offered by the
Institute of Public Affairs, Dalhousie University.
After
his retirement from MODL, Malcolm operated a charter bus tour company,
providing his clients with many popular tours to Cape Breton and
Prince Edward Island.
Malcolm was an active volunteer in
his community having served many years with Big Brothers, Big Sisters
and with the Kinsmen Club, including a term as President. He then
served many years with K-40, including a term as President. He was a
member of Bridgewater United Church where he served in many capacities
including as an Elder and singing with Bridgewater United Church Men’s
Choir.

Robert and to cousins Alex (Margo), Bill and Cheryl for providing much
appreciated support which allowed Malcolm to care for his Mom and live
at home. Special thanks also to the V.O.N. and to Lunenburg County
Home Support.
