Obituary of Doris Rae
Doris Shirley Rae, Glen Haven Manor, formerly of Westville, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 25, 2023 with her daughters by her side.
Mom was born in Nappan, Nova Scotia on April 15, 1933.
She was predeceased by her husband William Earle “Bill” Rae; sisters Audrey Benoit (Smith) and Isabel Prosser; sons in law Gerald Simpson and Scott Smith; and son John MacIntosh.
Mom is survived by her daughters Marilyn Simpson, Stellarton; Phyllis Smith, Stellarton; Michelle Rae-Turple (George), Westville; grandchildren, Kelly Bethune (Errol Zwicker), New Minas; Rob Simpson (Nicole Chapman), Stellarton; Amanda Smith, Truro; Scott Smith (Nicola), Stellarton; Emily Rae, Westville; John Smith, Halifax; Julie Smith (Bradley), Fredericton; Madison Turple, Westville; nine great-grandchildren.
Mom was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved her family immensely. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sh enjoyed reading, loved to sing, drives with Dad and her Sunday chicken dinners. Mom was a devoted Christian and lived her life for Jesus.
Special thanks to the V.O.N. for their care while she still was at home; second floor staff of Glen Haven Manor; Aberdeen Palliative Care and Pastor Dererro Smith.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place with no visitation or funeral service.
