Jane’s Obituary
SURETTE, Jane Sophie – age 88, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024 in Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac. Born in Wedgeport on August 21, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Barney and Gertie (Cottreau) Robbins.
Jane was a homemaker most of her life. Her house was always full, having 6 children plus the neighbors dropping in here and there. Free time wasn’t something she had much of, but she loved every minute. Family was her biggest love. She also enjoyed going for drives, and heading into McDonald’s every day to meet her friends for coffee. She would watch her game shows and enjoyed playing Bingo when she could. At the Villa, she loved to dance and listen to music as well as the activities they would do.
Jane is survived by children, Myrna (Bernie) Cottreau; Sharon (Norman Vacon) McComiskey; Phillippe (the late Brenda Surette) Surette; Joan (Andrew Williams) Surette; grandchildren, Angie, Jennifer, Charles, Melissa, Thomas, Kyle, Katelynn, and Keegan; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and another on the way; brother-in-law, Wilbur Doucette; sister-in-law, Betty Robbins.
Besides her parents, Jane is predeceased by her husband, Belmont Surette; children, Ernest and Malcolm Surette; grandchildren, Anita and Ryan Saulnier; siblings, William, Donald, Adolphe, Everette, Joseph, Frances Corporon, Viola, Agnes Doucette and a sister in infancy; son-in-law, Larry McComiskey.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Yarmouth. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 27, 2024 from 1 – 4 p.m. in the Melbourne Community Center. Donations in memory of Jane may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Gilles Boudreau & Friends Cancer Help Fund.
