Deal, Kenneth Wayne –It is with incredible sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Kenneth Wayne Deal.
Kenneth, sixty-nine years old of Newton Mills, was born to Douglas Deal and Irma Deal (Fraser) of Upper Musquodoboit. He was predeceased by both his parents and his oldest brother, Frank. We share this very difficult time of loss with his living siblings – older brother, Gordon; little sister, Evelyn (Leslie); Ken’s many nieces and nephews and all extended family.
Ken is remembered by the community as being kind, thoughtful, generous and helpful to all, and for his incredible talents in woodworking, drafting, construction, drawing and design. He loved to read and had a passion for fixing and building; he loved classic cars, waterfalling, taking nature photos, being outdoors and connecting with others.
Ken adored his wife of 47 years, Eva (Dickey), and was extremely proud of his two daughters, Kelly (Nathan MacLeod) and Laura, and all of his beautiful grandchildren – Ollie, Sarah, Ana and Niviaq. His wife will forever be the greatest love of his life, and he hers.
The layers of love Ken had for his family and friends visibly shined in his eyes and in his smile. He was a strong and steady man who practiced patience and understanding that came from his very core. He made us all feel welcomed, at ease, safe, valued, supported and cared for.
On this day, if we (his family) could try to measure the impact his life has had on the people around us, we can see it in the continual words of care, gifts of small comforts, and actions of love that have come to us as we have only begun to grieve this profound loss. For these things you’ve shown us, we are incredibly grateful and we are all the more sure of how special a man Ken was.
In recent retirement, Kenneth had taken a newfound interest in ATV trail riding and had enjoyed recreational camping and nature for years. The family asks that any donation you may wish to offer be made to the Lemon Hill Sports Association in Dean – a group involved in enhancing the local community through sport, trail preservation, music and song.
As his family, we cannot begin to describe the immensity of what Ken meant to us. We can only feel eternally thankful for the years he worked so hard to give us loving memories doing family things like cross country skiing, ice skating, travel and camping, holiday traditions and so many other days we now cherish.
Please join us in celebrating Kenneth’s beautiful life at his and Eva’s home at 415 Highway 336, Newton Mills on Thursday, December 7th, from 1-4pm, and feel welcomed to share your own stories of Ken. His eventual wish is to be buried at Higginsville Cemetery where he will rest, there, with his mother and father, his late and dear nephew Andrew and other members of the Deal and Fraser families.
