Buchanan, Joan Elaine – age 72 of Lake Charlotte, passed away in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital on March 29, 2024.
Born in Codroy Valley, NL, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas “Grumps” and Dulcie Hillier.
Joan was a dedicated RN for many years at both the QEII and Eastern Shore Memorial. Her work was her passion along with spending time on Lake Charlotte, going to music festivals with her husband in the travel trailer or spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who meant so much to her.
She is survived and dearly missed by her husband, Bob Dooks; brother, Paul; son, Nicholas; stepchildren, Glenn (Darlene), Ronnie, Patricia (Rob); grandchildren, Matthew (Tasha), Natasha, Michael (Caitlyn), Nadia, Brooke, Amanda; and many great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her great-grandson, Carson Robert John Dooks.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be on Friday April 5, 2024 at 11am in Jeddore United Baptist Church, Head of Jeddore, officiated by Pastor Aubrey Deslatte. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Jeddore United Baptist Church, 8 West Jeddore Road, Halifax, NS B0J 1P0.
