Obituary for
R. Gail Coe
Coe, Rosalyn Gail (Forbes) – Age 72, Valley. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gail Coe on March 15th, 2024. Born in Pictou, she was the daughter of the late Joyce (Porteous Forbes) Wilson and John Murray Forbes and wife to the late David Edward Coe.
Gail attended North Colchester High School, Mount Saint Vincent University and Saint Mary’s University. She had a passion for archaeology and education, eventually turning that passion into a lifelong career in education, focussing on students with learning disabilities. Her patience, dedication and ability to allow her students to experience success has drawn many accolades from past students and colleagues. Gail used those qualities to help her grandchildren find joy in learning and have fun while spending quality time with Grammy. Gail took pride in allowing others to succeed and was very selfless and generous with her time.
In retirement, Gail had a number of activities she enjoyed, including dinners and vacations with her ‘Group of 8’ friends, playing saxophone in the local band and going on long nature walks for exercise. Her favourite place to be was at her cottage on Periwinkle Beach, where she spent her summers and shared her personal ‘Slice of Heaven’ with friends, family, and everyone from ‘The Lane’.
Gail is survived by her sons, Timothy (Meaghan) of Burlington, ON and Jay (Eunessa) of Fort McMurray, AB, as well as her recently re-united daughter, Lisa Lamain (Ed) of Roblin, ON. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Payton, Harlee and Jayla; sisters, Ann (Ormand) MacCuspie and Sherry Forbes; brothers, Larry (Judy) Forbes, Reginald (Jeanne) Forbes, Greg (Peachy) Forbes, Steven (Brenda) Forbes and 17 nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21st from 1-3pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St. Truro. A celebration of Gail’s life will take place at her cottage in July at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maggie’s Place (maggiesplace.ca), a resource centre for families locally or to World Vision (worldvision.ca) – a charity that Gail donated to regularly.
