Obituary for
Kenneth Brown
Kenneth Vaughan “Ken” Brown – Age 60, Valley, Nova Scotia. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear husband, loving father, son, brother, and great friend, Ken Brown on July 27th, 2024, while on the road home.
Born in Pugwash on January 16th, 1964, Ken was one of four children of Lloyd Brown and the late Ella Jean (Allen) Brown. In addition to his father, Ken is survived by his longtime love and wife, Laura (Kaluza); sons, Michael, Antigonish, Matthew (Lily Scales), Halifax, Mark, Valley; sisters, Linda Brown, Ottawa, Debbie (Trevor) Eisnor, PEI; in-laws: Brenda Brown, Reta (Oickle) Kaluza, Jim Kaluza (Diane), Donna Kaluza; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.
Ken was predeceased by his brother, Allen Brown; stepmother, Annie Brown; paternal grandparents, Edward and Myrtle Brown; maternal grandparents, Lesley and Velma Allen; father-in-law, Darold Kaluza; and several aunts and uncles.
Ken loved his work as an electrician and service technician and really loved the challenge of solving new problems and helping people. His work took him all around the world, including not only Canada, but Mexico, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei, the United States, and more. Not long before Ken’s passing, he had calculated that he had driven an equivalent of one and a half trips around the world. Those who were lucky enough to work with Ken will surely miss not only his knowledge and expertise, but his friendship.
Ken was a proud member of the Wallace Masonic Lodge No. 76 and had recently become a member of the Philae Shriner Club. Ken was a longstanding member of the IBEW local 625, from which he had recently retired.
Ken was a bottomless well of kindness and generosity. He was always smiling; especially around his family, whom he loved dearly. There were times when he was home for years and other times when he was away for work for months, but no matter where in the world Ken was, he was only ever a phone call away. When Ken was home, the time he spent at home was cherished by family and friends alike. Everybody loved Kenny!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner Hospital for Children. Donations may also be made to Carma Cat Rescue, Antigonish by e-transfer to Carma.ant@gmail.com, with a comment, “In memory of Ken Brown.”
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 10th from 2-4pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS.
