Obituary for
Irene Weatherbey (Forshner)
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Irene June Weatherbey, 91 years, on July 19, 2024, in Debert Court, Debert, N.S. Irene was born on March 27, 1933, in Pugwash, to the late Ivan and Elsie (Layton) Forshner.
She was a member of the Westchester United Baptist Church in Westchester, and over the years was actively involved in the UCW. She was a lover of animals of all kinds, especially her beloved dogs and cats.
Mom was a talented seamstress, knitter, and quilter. She and her late mother made many beautiful quilts together. These quilts would become tokens of love to her family. It was a regular sight to arrive at Mom’s house to see a quilt in progress. She enjoyed gardening and had a love for vibrant coloured flowers; a hobby she shared with her late husband, Allen. Baking was another of Mom’s passions. Each Christmas, we could all count on receiving a tin of her freshly baked goodies; a gift made with love.
Mom is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marcia Mattinson, Lawrencetown, HRM; her children Billy Mattinson, Pugwash, Ronnie (Mary) Mattinson, Pugwash, Carol-Lee (Eric) Dotten, Lantz, Kelly Ann (Steven) Parker, Pugwash and Jeannie (Walter) Allen, Collingwood; her stepchildren, Marc (Barb) Weatherbey, Debert, Edward (Pascal) Weatherbey, Quebec, Sharon (Luc) Rodrigue, Crossroads, Alberta, Melanie (Daniel) Siple, Wetaskwin, Alberta, Tanya (Douglas) Weatherbey-Wile, Bible Hill, Alene Weatherbey, Tatamagouche and Elsie Beal, Tatamagouche. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Donna Lake, Bible Hill, Betty Stout, Maine, and Joy Weatherbey, Truro, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
