Ida Legere (Crowe)
Legere, Ida Jane, Age 92, Hilden. It is with immense sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother on December 6, 2023. She was a longtime resident of Hilden. Born in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Beatrice (Crouse) and Ambrose Crowe.
She was a homemaker and was greatly involved in the family business for years. Ida participated in many community events in Hilden over her lifetime; she was one of the founding members of the Ladies Auxiliary Fire Brigade and volunteered for the SC Minor Hockey League. Ida was an avid artist and a member of the Attic Painters of Truro for over 30 years. Ida truly loved the village of Hilden, where, beginning in the early 1950s, she and her husband, Bill, created a loving home and raised five children. Throughout her life Ida loved music and she loved to dance, and she never forgot that she was from Hilden.
Ida was predeceased by her husband, Willliam “Bill”, son, David Wayne; her sisters, Alice, Priscilla, Phyllis, Ellen.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise, Hilden; sons, William A (Brenda), Hilden, Gary, Princeport, Darren (Wanda), Cape Breton; Scout, her fourteen year old Australian Shepherd who frequently visited Ida. Also left to miss Ida are grandchildren, Stacey (Tim) Legere, Caitlin Legere, Ceilidh Legere; great grandchild, Aria, and her brother, Jack Crowe, East Mountain.
Ida lived with dementia for over four years and resided at the Magnolia for two years; we would like to thank the caring staff of the Magnolia in Enfield.
Rest in peace, Mom, we have lost our glue that binds us!
Donations in Ida’s memory may be made to the Hilden Cemetery
Cremation has taken place. A Graveside service will be held on June 1, 2024 at 1pm in the Hilden Cemetery followed by a reception in the Hilden United Church Hall, 1840 Irwin Lake Road, Hilden, NS .
