Grace Blair
Thomson – 88, Truro,
formerly of Bible Hill,
passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, peacefully at Cedarstone
Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in New Glasgow, Grace was the
daughter of the late John and Margaret Forbes (MacDonald) of New
Glasgow. Predeceased by her husband, John P. Thomson; they met in high
school and were married for 31 wonderful years before John’s
untimely passing in 1991. Predeceased also by her brothers, Grant
(Donna) Forbes, Ross (Linda)
Forbes.
She is
survived by her children, Peter (Shelley)
Thomson, Shortts
Lake; Karen
(Scott) Soucy, Ottawa; Robert (Jennifer) Thomson, Halifax; brother,
Kevin (Lorraine) Forbes, Edmonton; grandchildren, Sarah (Peter)
MacGillivray, Michael (Ellen) Thomson,
Emily (Andrew) Soucy, Daniel
Soucy, John
Thomson, Sophie
Thomson, Caroline Thomson; step grandchildren, Alyssa (Ben) Roy,
Jamie (Alison) Patterson; great
grandchildren, William and Norah MacGillivray; step great
grandchildren, Lucy, Dana and Madelyn Roy.
Mom graduated
in 1957 as a Registered Nurse from the Halifax Children’s
Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed her career as a nurse and
worked in hospitals in Halifax, London, Ontario, New Glasgow, Montreal
and lastly at the former Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre in
Brookside. Mom was also known to volunteer as camp nurse over the
summer months at Camp Geddie in Merigomish whenever needed. She was
well trained and applied her discipline to many aspects of her life
and could often be seen and heard offering thoughtful ideas on how to
improve upon things.
Grace loved
her family, especially her grandchildren. She was delighted whenever
they called or came to visit and was proud of their many
accomplishments. She loved to hear about everyone’s
adventures of the week. She was
a proud member
of St.
James Presbyterian
Church in Truro.
We would like
to acknowledge the wonderful care and compassion Mom received
from the nurses and personal support workers at
Parkland Fergus
Hall, Cedarstone
and from the teams at
Colchester East Hants Health
Centre.
In lieu of
flowers, donations in Grace’s memory to Feed Nova Scotia are welcomed.

Arrangements
have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday,
January 26, 2024, Reverend Andrew Campbell officiating.
Refreshments
and
reception to follow.
Interment alongside her husband will take
place at Castle
Hill Cemetery, McLellans
Brook, Pictou
County.
