Goldwin Rutledge
Rutledge, Goldwin “Goldie” Winford – Age 97, of Bible Hill, passed away peacefully through the night of November 27, 2024, in Wynn Park Villa.
Born in Sheet Harbour, he was a son of the late Earl Rutledge and Mary Jane “Jenny” Rogers. After getting married, Goldie and his wife, Jean, settled in Bible Hill where they built their home on Bigney Avenue and started a family. He worked as a lineman for Truro Electric before opening a small business, which he operated until retirement.
Goldie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jean; daughters, Linda (Allan) MacDonald and Debbie Rutledge; grandchildren, Mark MacDonald, Tara (Gabriel) Mercier, Jeanne Rutledge, Logan Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Juliette Mercier, Alana Mercier, Claire Mercier. He is survived by half-brother, Howard, and half-sisters, Thelma, Ada and Patsy.
He was predeceased by son-in-law, Dennis Miller; sisters, Dorothy Blenkhorn and Mary Kelly; brother, Laurie and half-brothers, Winston, Raymond, Murray, James and Douglas Rutledge.
Goldie loved fishing, gardening and was always in service to his neighbors and the community.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Wynn Park Villa. The care, kindness and compassion shown by their team over the last four years will always be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wynn Park Villa Recreation Department.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, where a service will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at 2:30pm with Rev. April Hart officiating. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
