Etta Bernice (Reid) (Sutherland) Jamieson – 101,
Truro.
“My darling Mum” went to be with her Lord on
Sunday, May 19, 2024. She passed away at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro, with her daughter, Lauretta (Bonnie) Sutherland, by her
side. Born in Brule Shore, she was the eldest daughter of the late
William and Bessie (Baird) Reid.
Etta had several jobs during her life, the last one being as
a bookkeeper at the Colchester County Court office. She enjoyed music,
dancing, bowling, knitting, quilting and cooking. To mark her
100th birthday, she knit 100 hats and donated
them to charity.
Etta’s faith was very important to her; she was a
member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro.
Along with her daughter, Etta is survived by sisters, Lavenia
Hunter and Ruth Elliott; sisters-in-law, Carol Jamieson and Joan
Boucher (and husband Wayne); several nieces and
nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her first
husband, George (Bud) Sutherland; second husband, Ronald Jamieson;
brothers, Fulton Reid, Dickson Reid, Clayton Reid, and Kenneth Reid;
sisters, Lyla Curwin and Verna Pinard.
The help provided to Etta by family and friends, and the VON
palliative care team is very much appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice in
Etta’s memory are welcomed.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m.,
Thursday, August 29, 2024, at The Falls Cemetery, Reverend Andrew
Campbell officiating.
