David “Ross” Langill – 80, Bible Hill. It
is with great sadness that the family of David “Ross”
Langill announce his passing at home on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Born in Wallace, he was the son of the late Owen and Carolyn
(Langille) Langill.
Ross apprenticed with and was an automotive mechanic at
Blaikies, from 1966 with the original Blaikie family, until his
retirement in 2009. He was always a member of the United Church most
recently at Valley – Greenfield United Church where he had
served as a Steward. He was truly a “Jack of all trades” and
loved to putter around his home and cottage. He could tinker with
anything and make it new again. His vegetable gardens also
brought him great joy. His outgoing personality will be missed; he was
always chatty, humourous and happy.
Ross is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Anna
(Mitchell); daughters, Darria Langill (Gerald Rehberg), Bible Hill;
Stephanie Langill, Bible Hill; grandson, Jay Langill, Ottawa; sister,
Katherine (Chester) McPherson, Bible Hill; niece, Lisa (Thom) Hofmann;
nephew, Jamie (Jane) McPherson; great nephews, Nicholas Hofmann, Liam
McPherson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Ross’
family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, September 12,
2024. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024,
at St. John’s United Church, 3811 Route 307, Wallace,
Reverend Connie McNamara officiating. Interment in Wallace Cemetery at
a future date. If so desired, donations in Ross’ memory to
VON (Colchester East Hants) or Home Dialysis Unit are welcomed.
