Catherine McLellan
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Pearl McLellan on June 25, 2024. Cathy was born in Truro on October 23, 1949, to the late Mary R. (Redmond) and James A. McLellan.
She is survived by Pat Boomer (Brian), Jimi-Jane, David, Debbie, Janice Verney and Betty Totten and sister- in-law, Kathy Langille as well as many nieces, nephews, greats and great greats whom she cherished.
Cathy was predeceased by her sister, Tammy and her husband, Dale White; her brother, Nick; brother-in-law, Andy Verney and half-sister, Carol Powell
Cathy received her Food Service Supervisor Certification in 1971 and happily spent her career in the kitchen at the Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, allowing her to be present for the birth of some of her many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was a beloved staple in the family, her presence was often requested by numerous houses for holiday stays, and visits. Many weekends and afternoons were spent in the kitchen, ‘helping’ Cathy bake delicious treats, where her patience was on full display with all her nieces and nephews. Cathy excelled in the kitchen as well as the craft room, and always had time to show and share whatever she was working on with a friend or family member.
The family would like to extend a special thank you and acknowledgement to Dave and Jesse Aulenback for their longstanding friendship and support to Cathy along with niece, Karen Verney who went above and beyond for Cathy, especially this last year. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital who lovingly cared for Cathy these last six months.
There will be no service by request. A family graveside service will be held in the Falls Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS.
