M. Beverley Craig – 84, Tatamagouche, formerly of
Lower Sackville. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of
our dear mother and grandmother, Beverley Craig; she passed away
peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Mom leaves many friends and family with fond memories from
her beginnings in Goodwood, Halifax County, a small close knit
community of friends since childhood, and then moving her young family
to Tatamagouche where she found a new close knit group of cherished
friends and coworkers during her many years of employment at the
Willow Lodge.
After retirement, she and dad moved from the community only
for her to return some 20 years later to enjoy her final years among
new and old friends. She enjoyed word games, puzzles, fixing things,
Bingo, her IPad and a good card game. For this well-loved woman,
staying active with friends and family was her joy right until the
evening of June 19, 2024, taking her leave in the best no fuss way,
seated after a fun filled day, in her favourite chair awaiting a good
hot cup of tea. If her passing was planned, it wouldn’t have
been as perfect.
Little nanny’s heart held great capacity for love of family,
friends, life and adventure. Unassuming nanny was ten feet tall to her
family and those that had the honour to meet her acquaintance. She had
great love for her many extended family members and beautiful nieces
and nephews.
Beverley is survived by her five children, Lynn Yetman,
Tatamagouche; James (Darlene) Craig, Fall River; Michael (Cheryl)
Craig, Beaver Bank; Katherine Craig, Tatamagouche; Gregory (Pamela)
Craig, Hammonds Plains; cherished grandchildren, Stephani Yetman,
Whitehorse, Yukon Territories; Katie Conrad, Truro; Ashley Craig,
Toronto; Courtney Craig, Halifax; Morgan Craig, Halifax; Mathew Craig,
Beaver Bank, Nathan Craig, Hammonds Plains; Kyron Craig-Singh,
Tatamagouche; siblings, Donald (Rose) Slaunwhite, Bayside; Arnold
Slaunwhite, Truro; Joan (Wayne) Clements, Lakeside; Rose (Rod)
Williams, Whitehorse Yukon Territories; aunt, Marie Morash, Terence
Bay. Waiting for mom in heaven are her husband and our father, Frank
Craig; her parents, Clyde and Lillian (Finley) Slaunwhite; brothers,
Irwin Slaunwhite, Weldon Slaunwhite; sister, Doris Poirier
(Slaunwhite).
Celebration of life will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 8,
2024, at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville.
A second celebration of her life will be held in Tatamagouche at a
later date, which will be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted
to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
