Anne M. Lake – It is
with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Anne at
the age of 81, on Monday, April 1, 2024 in Colchester East Hants
Health Centre. She was born in Amherst and raised in Advocate
Harbour.
After graduating from
Normal College, Anne taught in the Halifax area. In 1964, she married
and devoted 60 years as a loving wife, mother, and charismatic friend.
She followed her husband in moving many times for his career in
banking and with the Province of Nova Scotia. Her home was a centre
for gatherings of family and friends. Anne was a warm and welcoming
hostess with fresh baking and a hot cup of tea for all who visited.
She was known for her sweetness, kindness and friendliness. Wherever
she lived, she was active in her community as a leader to children and
youth groups, the Canadian Cancer Society, Berwick United Church Camp,
and her much loved United Church Women.
Anne leaves to mourn
her husband, David W. Lake; daughters, Kimberly Lake (Jaczar) Amherst
and Krista Lake Settle (Paul) Truro; sister, Charlotte Yorston, New
Glasgow; brother, Rob Fillmore, Vancouver, British Columbia;
granddaughter, Chanel Da Silva (Drake), Windsor, Ontario; as well as
treasured nieces and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her father, Albert L. Fillmore and mother, Vera V. (Billet) Fillmore;
and brother-in-law, Gary Yorston.
The family wishes to
extend special thanks to Parkland Estates, Truro, and their staff and
also to St. Andrew’s United Church.
A Memorial service
will be held 2 pm on Monday, April 15, 2024 at St. Andrew’s
United Church, Reverend Shannon MacLean officiating. A reception will
follow and interment will be held in Advocate Harbour at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church,
Canadian Cancer Society, or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are
welcomed.
Arrangements have been
