It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
Shirley Norma Fisher (Mason), age 69, who left us peacefully on
November 27, 2024 at home surrounded by loved ones after a long battle
with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
She was born on December 5, 1954, in Toronto, ON to Dempsey
and Norma Mason, (MacDonald), who later returned to Trenton, NS where
Shirley grew up with her siblings, Hughie and Lynn. Shirley was a
beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt and mother who dedicated her life
to her family and friends. Shirley began a career at Michelin Tire in
Granton lasting 30 successful years. She was a hard worker with an
impeccable work ethic, never missing a shift and developing many
long-term friendships along the way. Upon retirement, Mom volunteered
countless hours at the Aberdeen Hospital (Martha’s Place and
the Cancer Society).
Known for her warmth, kindness and infectious smile, she
brought joy and laughter into the lives of everyone she knew. Shirley
was a big supporter of her son during his hockey days with words of
encouragement even on those quiet trips home, the numerous road trips
and tournaments and making those long road trips across the causeway
to Port Hawkesbury with Lynn and Norma to cheer on the
Pirates.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Myles Fisher; son, Mike
Lumsden; sister, Lynn Johnston (Ralph); stepson, Tim Fisher (Zoe);
step-granddaughter, Chloe; sister-in-law, Joan Mason; brothers-in-law:
Lenny Fisher (Kitty), David Fisher (Rosetta), Kevin Fisher (Leslie);
sisters-in- law: Cathy MacLean and Marie Thomsen (Shane); nieces:

Lynn Fisher; nephews: Darrell Johnston (Pam), Larry Mason (Amy),
Robert Mason (Angel), Hughie Mason, Arron Mason, Sean Fisher, Greg
MacLean, Brennan MacLean and James MacLean; and many dear friends who
will forever cherish her memory. She was predeceased by her parents,
Demp and Norma; brother, Hughie; grandnephew, Nicholas Laffin;
father-in-law, Ron Fisher and mother-in-law, Mable Fisher;
brothers-in-law: Kenneth Fisher, Wade Fisher and Jeff
Fisher.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to our in-home
nursing staff, Tammy Hawboldt, Tanya Livingston and Krista Fraser for
their extraordinary care and compassion they gave to Mom. A very
special thanks to Paige and Kiley Marcott for becoming great friends
and wonderful neighbors who were always there for
support.
The family welcomes you to a visitation from 2-4pm Saturday,
November 30, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High Street, Trenton.
Cremation has taken place and the family burial will be held at a
later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in
Shirley’s memory to the North
Nova SPCA.
Rest In
Peace. You will be forever missed and always in our
