Vera “Marie” Roode (Murray) – 83, Tatamagouche. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an incredible loved one. Marie was born in Balmoral Mills on March 10, 1940 to the late Douglas and Bonetta (Baillie) Murray. She use to do lots of babysitting, sat with seniors, worked two summers in the Tillsonburg Tobacco Fields, picked apples in the fall and worked in two nursing homes. She did lots of community work and was highly involved in church as choir member and member of the Presbyterian Church in Tatamagouche. Marie was well known for her homemade cooking and baking that she did for family, friends and neighbours. She had a passion for her cow and angel collection. Marie was well known for her big heart, her sense of humour, and a smile on her face. Everyone knew her either by mum or nannie.
She is survived by her seven children, Bonnie Robbins (Rick), Bible Hill, Ronnie (Michelle), North River, Jean Lake (Fred), Ontario, Joyce Osborne (Greg), Bible Hill, Wanda Latta, Ontario, Donna Peterson (Jim), Tatamagouche, Linda Mingo (Wess), Brule Shore; her fourteen grandchildren, Maurice, Ronnie, Kyle, Matthew, Brian, Amanda, Tara, Natasha, Jeremy, Tiffany, Tyler, Ashley, Josie and Jenny; 23 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren as well as lil’ peanut on the way; sister, Jean (Les) Kupi, Marshville; brother, Alvin Murray, Ontario; sister in law, Phyllis Murray, Stellarton; many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Floyd, Brian, Raymond and Robert; in infancy, sisters, Doreen, Gladys and brother, Jack; in laws, Clara and Gordon Latimer, Pat Murray; nephews, Terry Saunders and Tony Murray.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche, from where visitation will be held Friday, October 27 from 1pm until time of funeral service at 2pm, The Rev. Enjei Achah will be officiating. Reception will follow with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to Sedgwick Memorial Presbyterian Church or charity of one’s choice.
