Obituary
We the family of Gwendolyn Mae McConnell, 84 of Tatamagouche, announce her passing Friday, January 5, 2024 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche.
Gwen was born the first of eleven children to Joseph and Anita Canfield of Malagash. Gwen was predeceased by her parents as well as husbands, Curtis Cameron, Clifford McConnell as well as partner, Ken Pickrem.
She worked for many years as a hairdresser at the White Lantern Beauty Parlour in Truro. After marrying Clifford, they then went on to live in various places through out the world, such as Scotland and South Africa as a result of Clifford’s work. Gwen was a member of the Malagash Rebekah Lodge, UCW and Bayhead Community Association. In later years, she became involved with the Warwick Mountain Snowmobile Club, where she made many long-lasting friendships.
Gwen is survived by her loving sons, Martin (Sue), Truro and Scott (Olga), Edmonton; siblings, George (Helen), Joey; twins, Eleanor and Elwood (Bonnie), Ron (Dale), Alex, Geneva, Irma, Rick (Barb) and Mary Lou (Murray).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10 from 2-4pm with Memorial Service being held on Thursday, January 11 at 2pm both in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche with Rev. Linton Worrell officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Bayhead Union Church Cemetery.
Donations in Gwen’s memory may be made to the Fundy Snowmobile Club or to the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
