Edward Alexander Sutherland
April 22, 1957 – November 30, 2023
With broken hearts, we the family announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, son and brother on November 30, 2023.
Edward was born in Tatamagouche on April 22, 1957 to Alice (Redmond) and the late Alexander Sutherland.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Frances (Snook) and their children, Amy (Gary), Nicholas (Melissa), Alexa (Geraint) and Kimberley (Majella); his mother, Alice and grandchildren, Kaylee and Cole Sutherland, Reena Wavey, Elizabeth Owen, Ella and Zoey Levesque and great grandson, Zidane Wavey; sisters, Linda (Bob) and Trudy; brother, Bill (Donna).
Edward was predeceased by granddaughter, Shanille Wavey and father, Alex Sutherland.
Edward lived all of his life in River John. He worked for the Department of Transportation and operated the family farm for many years as well as his own gravel truck business. He loved his family, farming, trucking, old cars, animals and anything with a motor. He loved music, family gatherings and family history. He enjoyed a good laugh and would help anyone who needed a hand. He could fix just about anything! If Frances couldn’t find Edward, he was most likely in the basement reading the newspaper before he lit the furnace or at Stewartie’s having a visit.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 8 at 2pm in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John with Rev. Enjei Achah officiating. Reception will follow with interment in Mountain Road Cemetery.
A special thanks to Dr. Bush, the staff of Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital as well as to Vimy Court for your kindness, care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital or to the Mountain Road Cemetery would be appreciated.
