We, the family of Mary Lou MacDonald, regret to announce her passing on Monday, August 26, 2024, in Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield, NS.
Born May 10, 1933, in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Alberta (MacDonald) Bagnell.
Mary Lou was a school teacher in the Gabarus area for a short time before she was married. She was a member of the Gabarus Lake UCW. She had a love of cats and very much enjoyed knitting, baking and doing crafts.
Mary Lou is survived by her son, Albert; daughter-in-law, Sharon; grandchildren, Gavin and Katie; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stewart; brother, Bill; sister-in-law, Vera; nephew, Joey; and a brother and sister (in infancy).
Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Magnolia Continuing Care, especially the Sunflower Cottage.
Visitation will take place in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 30th from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, August 31st at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment will take place in Zion Cemetery, Gabarus Lake.
Donations and memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Zion Wesley United Church or Zion Cemetery.
