Margaret Rice
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Rice on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Slade) Clarke.
Margaret was a loving mother and housewife, and enjoyed watching old westerns, shopping with her daughter, and family meals.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Obed Rice; daughter, Carol Rice, Sydney; sons, Rob (Patty), Sydney, Brian (Myrna), Lucasville and Lindsay (Susan), Brookside; grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley, Julie, Liam and Graham; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Ryan, Sam, Andi, Grace, Claire and Cole. Margaret is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Macready, British Columbia and Joan Gillis, Boston, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her sisters, Minnie, Mary, Jessie and Lila and brothers, Jack, George, Bob, Charlie, Jimmy and Ray.
Funeral service will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 12th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Sydney Memorial Chapel Facebook page.
The family would like to thank Dr. Greg Myatt and the numerous health staff for their care over the years.
Memorials may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
