It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Yazer on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the age of 81 in Hospice Cape Breton.
Raised in Sydney Mines, Ken later studied and worked in Montreal. His goal, however, was to return to Cape Breton and he did just that. Ken took great pride in his car dealership in Sydney, Ken Yazer Motors. He was also part-owner and driver of a local taxi company, meeting interesting people from near and far who appreciated his knowledge and pride of the Island.
When he wasn’t driving, you could find Ken at the cottage, in the garden, or reading three newspapers every day. Above all, his greatest interest was his family.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Eleanor; daughter, Shelley; son, Thomas; and grandson, Matt.
He is also survived by his brother, Gordon (Jan); sister, Gail (Charles); nephew, Mark; and nieces, Andrea and Michaela.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Mendel and Florence Yazer.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Palliative Care and Hospice Cape Breton for their compassion and guidance during Ken’s final days.
As per Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral or formal service will be held at this time.
Donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society Cape Breton County.
