Janet Westcott
Sydney
We, the family of Jessie “Janet” Westcott, regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born February 20, 1937, in Whycocomagh, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie (Smith) Fraser.
Janet was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was thrilled when her granddaughter, Zoe arrived. She was an Olympic caliber shopper, known to have kept Oak Hall and Jacobson’s on Charlotte Street afloat during sweater season, which, if you knew her, was 12 months a year. For Janet, nothing beat a strong cup of black tea, made at home, after a full day of shopping. She loved her sunny summer afternoons of tanning on the shores of the Mira River, and was a constant source of amusement for anyone who watched and listened to her getting into the water, regardless of how warm it was.
Janet is survived by her husband, David; son, John (Donalda), Marion Bridge; granddaughter, Zoe; and sisters, Edna (Donnie) Stewart, Whycocomagh and Myra (Allister) Gillis, River Denys.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Martha MacMillan and Joan Fraser and brothers, Jack and Donald.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sydney Memorial Chapel. There will be no visitation or service.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.
