It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and amazing friend, Clifford Alexander MacDonald on Sunday, November 17, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 74.
Born December 23, 1949, in Georges River, he was a son the son of the late Alexander “AJ” and Johnena (Jessome) MacDonald.
Clifford worked a long, hard life on the oil truck for Sid McNeil Fina, Henry Hunt and Brogans Strip Mine operating heavy machinery, which forced him into early retirement. He could never sit still; always had to be in the garden, completing tasks around the house and was always helping his friends and family with endless projects. Clifford had a heart of gold. His main hobby was fishing and he could always be found around the Bras d’Or Lakes doing what he loved best with his fishing buddies, the late Dave Maxwell and Richard Strong, which he truly appreciated.
Clifford is survived by his loving wife, Jocelyn (Jessome); daughter, his doll and daddy’s little girl, Jocelyn (John); son, Curtis; grandchildren, Will, Haley and Shelby; and greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda (Richard); brothers, Byron (Linda), Hugh (Joanne) and Michael; stepsister, Mary (Victor); many nieces, nephews and cousins, with whom he made great bonds with over the years; and his loving in-laws, whom he had great connections with throughout his marriage.
In addition to his parents, Clifford was predeceased by his brothers, Stan, Allan and Nelson; best friend and fishing buddy, Dave Maxwell; and many aunts and uncles.
We want to thank the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, 4th Floor Coronary Unit and QEII, 6th Floor, 6.1 for their endless compassion during this time.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. There will be a Celebration of Life held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 12th from 2-4 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
