In the early morning of May 9th, 2024, my sweet Mama gained her angel wings.
Mom lived her life to the fullest and was always up for a cup of tea with friends. There were numerous times she told my sister and I “get out of the tub, we’re going for tea!” A big dream come true for Mom was a 2 week trip to Nashville with her sister Sarah. Lifelong memories were made during that trip and I think they spent more time laughing than sightseeing.
She had a way with words and was never one to bite her tongue. She was well known for writing poems and wrote them for anybody and any occasion. In her older years, she often spoke her mind, whether you liked what she said or not.
Mom’s pride and joy were her two grandsons, she loved them with all her heart. In her words, they were “the reason she got up in the morning.” They will always remember Nan telling them “have so much fun you can’t stand it!”
If you were her friend, you were a friend for life. Mom had many near and dear friends that would drop everything and help her at any time. Being a single mom with 2 young kids, those “troops” were called on a lot and came through each and every time. They say it takes a village to raise a child and mom was blessed with a wonderful village.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Clara and Stephen; her youngest daughter Angela; the father of her children – Cecil, and her step mother Theresa.
Left to mourn her loss are her daughter Lori, son-in-law Terrance, grandson’s Isaiah and Levi, older Sister Gladys (Ronnie), baby brother Billy (Cheryl) and step sister Sarah.
‘We lost a loved one, but gained an angel to watch over us from above’
