Jennifer Bootland
1971-2024
On November 21, 2024, Jennifer Cox Bootland, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly at age 53 in Jordan Bay, Nova Scotia.
Jenney was born in San Fransisco, California to Ronnie Cox and Jane Rosado. She grew up a “military brat” in various postings but wanted to call Hawaii her home. She graduated from Antioch High School and pursued career development in the area of medicine and genealogy with the LDS Business College and Brigham Young University (Idaho). As a genealogist, she loved to work to put families back together over the span of time. It was in Brigham City, Utah that she met her husband Johnathan Bootland in 2005. They were married in 2006 and raised their children together in Utah and then in Ontario, Canada. Jennifer loved a good adventure. Near the end of the 2019 pandemic she and her family set off on a new “adventure,” moving to Jordan Bay, Nova Scotia in 2021. After travelling the world extensively, it was here that Jennifer found the property and view that she desired, along the side of the ocean, in an area rich with history, and near a cemetery where she could indulge her genealogy. She worked locally at the Sobeys and then in various positions at Roseway Hospital. She was a support to her family in so many varied ways. She loved her community, liked to participate in the re-enactment activities of her husband and son, and loved her Bridgewater Latter-day Saint Ward. She doted on her grandchildren and took every opportunity to visit them in Ontario or join them in Facetime activities. As her youngest son Jakob finished up his educational goals locally, she was looking forward to moving to Ithaca, NY and resuming both her life with her husband John but also to furthering her education at Cornell University. This was cut short by her unexpected departure.
Jennifer will be deeply missed by husband Johnathan, son Kanoa and wife Kendyll, their children Remington and Aria; daughter Makena, son Jakob and Steven. She leaves behind a host of family to include her parents and sister, Penny MccLarin.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 30th, 2024 at 1:00pm from H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home; 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne, Nova Scotia, following which fireworks will be set off at the family property in Jordan Bay. There will be a live stream of the service available through this obituary, the link will be added before the service begins. On-line condolences may be left for the family at www.huskilson.net
We are comforted knowing she had many warm, loving, long relationships and by the knowledge that she has found a profound peace in the loving embrace of the Savior, in God’s care.
