White, Eugene Randall – 62, Mooseland, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour with his cousin Pam by his side. Born in Sheet Harbour on September 29, 1961, he was the son of the late Randall & Evelyn (Smith) White. Eugene was fortunate enough to have spent his early years in Mooseland & at the age of 5, moved to Port Hardy, BC. Those were the formative years in building the kind, compassionate, loving man he was. After 43 years there, it was time to move along, next up was Alberta. Although Gene enjoyed his 10 years there, it still wasn’t home. We all knew Eugene loved a slower pace of life, solitude & nature and that was found when he moved back to Mooseland. Even as sick as he was towards the end, you could usually find him sitting on the back deck counting fireflies or June bugs, watching & naming every bird that came to the feeders, or waving to the very odd car that would drive by from the front covered porch. Gene was in his element there & was forever grateful to Dwayne & his family for allowing him to stay there. We all have so many great memories of a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin & friend taken far too soon. If we learned anything from this, its life is far too short! Eugene is survived by his brother Tracey (Carey) & nephews Randy and Nathan, Hinton, Alberta as well as many aunts, uncles & cousins. In memory of Eugene, go enjoy a simple walk on the beach while collecting tons of driftwood for a big bonfire on the beach. Take a spin on a quad & enjoy a beer near a secluded lake like Gene liked to do. Go buy that millionth dog toy that you’ll trip over & curse because you have far too many already, just like Gene did a few days before he passed. So today, enjoy a shot of rum or an ice cold beer in memory of a great guy! Hug your dog, buy lots of bird seed, & be kind to all animals and insects. Be compassionate & understanding to each other, that was Eugene’s mantra. Donations in Eugene’s memory can be made to Hope for Wildlife, SPCA, or a charity of your choice.
