P. Carol England – Melford N.S. – November 8, 1942 – January 10, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Patricia “Carol” (Clancy) England dear wife, mother and grandmother on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish.
Mom was born in Mulgrave, N.S. on November 08, 1942 to Pierce and Helen (Wylde) Clancy. Mom’s father passed prior to her birth, it provides comfort that she now enjoys time with him, something she was denied in this world.
Growing up in a multi-generational home with her Mother, Grandmother and sister Helen. Many of Mom’s fondest memories were times spent at “The Cottage” in Auld’s Cove.
Mom and Dad were married in October 1961. In the years that followed our family grew with the birth of Sherman, Billy and Margie. In June of 1970, Stephen Bradley was born. However, fate decided that he would be Mom and Dad’s heavenly angel. Like all challenges in her life Mom met Stephen’s loss with quiet strength and courage.
After spending 30 years in the financial industry, Mom retired from the Scotiabank in Port Hawkesbury in 2002. She enjoyed her retirement years in the company of her friends and expanding family. Mom was proudest of her 4 grandchildren – Molly, Luke, Reed and Angus.
Mom is survived by our dad and husband of 62 years Edward “Eddie”, sons; Sherman (Margie), Auld’s Cove, Billy (Shellagh), Hubbards and daughter; Margie (Kevin) Stellarton. Her grandchildren; Molly, Luke, Reed and Angus – along with many nieces and nephews including her special nephew Howie. Last, but certainly not least her “Golden Girl” buddies Mary Halfpenny and Thelma MacPherson. Besides her parents she was preceded by her infant son Stephen and sister Helen.
While our rooms may now feel empty with mom’s passing, she leaves us with full hearts and a lifetime of wonderful memories as we know how incredibly fortunate we were to have Mom in our lives. It is said that grief is the price we pay for love – Mom’s love will be forever present.
We want to thank the doctors and nurses of. St. Martha’s Regional Hospital – ICU, PCU and Palliative Care Unit – for the excellent care and compassion provided to mom during her brief hospitalization. The kindness and care provided to our entire family was greatly appreciated.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 16th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Celebration of life will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 17th at St. James Anglican Church, Melford with Rev. Susan Slater officiating.
Family flowers only, donations can be made to the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation – ICU Family Room or St. James Anglican Church in Memory of P. Carol England. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
