John Garfield McKinnon, born on December 11, 1942 in Glace Bay, to the late William and Mary (Gallant) McKinnon. He was a welder by trade and a member of the union local 682 plumbers and pipefitters union. He ran his own business, McKinnons Welding, until he retired due to health issues.
He is survived by his Wife, Marie McKinnon; daughters, Shelly MacInnis (Donnie), Juanita MacIntosh (Billy Joe Hines); grand-children, Travis, Leah (Pat O’Quinn), Jennifer, Leslie (Alex Deveau), Evan; great grand-children, Harland, Garrett, Emelia, Olivia, Gabriella; brothers, Jimmy, Mickey (Sharon), Bernie (Diane), Melvin; sisters, Anne (Art Curry), Theresa (Wade Worthylake); as well as several nieces and nephews and his fur babies Hughie and Allan.
He was predeceased by his parents, an infant baby girl and also sister in law Joanna McKinnon.
There will be no visitation or service as per John’s wishes. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to thank the paramedics and the RCMP for their kindness and compassion.
