It is with our deepest sadness, we the family announce the passing of our mother, Cheryl (Shay) MacPhail on February 4, 2024. Mom passed peacefully with family by her side at the Strait Richmond Hospital. She was born July 3, 1948 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Mom spent her early childhood in Sterling Richmond County. The family then moved to Seaview Richmond County where she would grow up. Mom spent her early years working in the service industry then started her most prized job raising and caring for her for boys who she loved and praised unconditionally till her final days. Mom also was a caregiver to the elderly for over 30 years in her home where many people were always welcomed with a offer of a cup of tea, a meal, and a homemade sweet. A renowned cook and baker she loved people enjoying her fair. Her motto was, “there’s always room for one more.”
Mom was married to Sherman for 50+ years with whom they raised four boys, Darren (Anne Marie); Glenn (Shelly); Blane (Erin); Lorne (Jenny); she was blessed with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren Haley, April, Tyler, Addyson, Anaya, and Amari, who she adored and loved with all her heart. In mom‘s family she was one of five left to mourn our brothers Wayne (Yvonne), Wendell (Nadine). Mom was predeceased by her husband Sherman, her mother Lillian, father Lloyd, brother Robert (Christine) sister, Peggy (John).
We the family would like to thank the staff of the Richmond Villa, Saint Martha’s Hospital and Strait Richmond Hospital for all the care, love and attention they have given Mom it will be forever appreciated. Service details will be announced at a later date.
