SHEA, Zelma Bertha (Nee Knowles)- Age 76 passed away peacefully at home on Friday August 2nd, 2024. Zelma was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia on August 8th, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Clara Knowles (Falconer). Beloved wife of the late Alfred Gerald Shea, of Pictou NS. She is survived by her siblings, Sylvia Mackenzie (Hughie), of Inverness, NS; and Milton Knowles (Rosie), of Prescott, ON. Predeceased by her sisters, Catherine Roode, of Prescott, ON; and Clara Ann “Chookie” Rector, of Pictou, NS. Zelma resided most of her life in her beloved town of Pictou, NS, where the highlight of her days were walking by the harbor and greeting the many friendly faces that she would come upon. She also enjoyed visiting the many storefronts along her walks on the main street. In her later years, Zelma moved to Prescott, ON area to be with her children. She enjoyed her final years being surrounded and supported by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Knowles-McBrien (Doug), Monica Wilson (Tom); daughter-in-law, Kim Kirkby and predeceased by her son, James “Jimmy” Kirkby, All of Prescott and surrounding areas. Zelma was truly adored and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Samantha Moulton (Ben), Dustin Rennick, Michael Kirkby, Quintin and Conner Wilson. Predeceased by her granddaughter, Jessica Kirkby and grandson, Travis Wilson. She will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Levi and Lilly Moulton; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held in Pictou, NS in the fall, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband Alfie at Seaview Cemetery, Pictou NS. In Lieu of flowers, donations to Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital (Restorative Care Unit) would be greatly acknowledged by the family in memory of Zelma.
