Thérèse’s Obituary
Mackintosh, Thérèse Marie (Faguy) – 75, Cole Harbour, HRM, died at the QEII Hospital, Halifax on Friday, May 3rd, 2024. Born in Montreal, Thérèse was the elder daughter of Jacqueline (Bleau) and Roger Faguy. After starting a Bachelor’s degree at Université de Montreal, Thérèse joined the RCN in 1967 doing her basic training at CFB Cornwallis, NS. During her 10 years service she was posted to CFS Shelburne, Queen’s Harbour Master, Halifax and the Canadian Forces Maritime Warefare School, Stadacona. After marrying Leigh Mackintosh in 1978, she followed him to Lahr, Germany before returning to the Halifax area. She then worked as a clerk and a real estate agent in Dartmouth before retiring. Thérèse is survived by a sister, Pauline (Michel); brothers, François (Andrée) and Jacque (Rubin); many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides both of her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leigh by 5 days; a brother, Raymond (Lucie) and his son, Alexander. We would like to express our profound appreciation to her wonderful neighbours. Also her family would like to thank the staff of Melville Gardens Nursing Home in Halifax and the staff of the QEII Hospital for the extraordinary care and compassion. Also Thérèse’s family wants to express their deepest gratitude to Leigh’s family members for being at her bedside at the hospital in her last days.
