Fitzsimmons, Joseph “Joe” Edward – 68, Oxford, passed away on April 27th, 2024. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late James and Mary (Petipas) Fitzsimmons. Joe worked at Sysco in Moncton for 32 years until his retirement. He then worked part-time for 5 years at Circle K in Oxford, where his co-workers were like family. Joe was King Lion with Oxford Area Lions Club. He was also a former member of Elks Club in Cape Breton. Joe is survived by his wife, Wendy Turpin Fitzsimmons; daughter, Megan Fitzsimmons; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Bev Whitty, Halifax; Sheila (Mike) Gillis, Westmount; brother, Jim (Sharon) Fitzsimmons, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Roland Whitty. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, followed immediately by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m., both in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oxford Area Lions Club.
