Gloria’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria (Noseworthy) Patterson of Collingwood, NS in her 74th year.
She was born March 14, 1950 in Clarke’s Beach, NL. At a young age the family moved to Stephenville Crossing, NL where Gloria grew up, had her 4 children, developed her passions and her career until she retired. After an early retirement, Gloria decided she would move to Cape Breton and then on to Truro. It was here that she met Dave and they got married. They moved onto Kingston, Ontario and then Fort McMurray, Alberta for a few years before moving back to Nova Scotia and settling into Collingwood. Gloria had many talents and interests and gave her heart and soul into whatever she took on. She was active in the Red Cross, the Women’s Institute, Girl Guides, President of her Union Local and an Advocate for Teens. She wore many career hats in her lifetime and many of them simultaneously. She was a very hard worker and tried her hand as Nursing Assistant, Store Owner and Operator, Cook, Seamstress, Tax Preparer, High School Secretary and School Board Administrative Assistant. Above all, she was a loving daughter, sister, mom, grandmother, wife and aunt. She loved, volunteered and worked with her whole heart.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Minnie (Smith) and George Noseworthy; her brother, Roger; her stepson, Aaron; her mother and father-in-law, Doris and Alder; brothers-in-law, Clinton and Darren Patterson as well as numerous other relatives.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband, Dave Patterson; her children, David Young, Brenda (Keith) Bennett, Roger Young (Debbie), Vanessa Young (Richard); her stepson, Todd Patterson (Sarah); her grandchildren, Johnston, Desiree, Brittany (Cory), Justine, Ethan, Dalton, Ian (Theresa), Lauren, Gerri-Lynn (RJ), Faith, Kaeleigh, Corbyn, Jaedyn and Judson. She also leaves to mourn her siblings, Sandra (Nelson), Georgina (Orville), Debbie (Dave), Gary (Julie), Randy (Daisy), Tammy (Ambrose), Todd (Irene), Mandy (David) and Sean (Sam) as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Remembering her as well are her sisters-in-law, Angela, Bonnie, Crystal, Terry and her brother in law Phillip and their families.
Funeral arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home in Oxford, NS as well as Russell’s Funeral Home in Stephenville, NL. A celebration of life and service will take place in Stephenville, NL in the near future with Inurnment at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Stephenville, NL next to her Mom and Dad, as she wished.
Gloria’s family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the Nursing Staff and Doctors at Cumberland Regional Hospital in Amherst, NS for the loving care and compassion given in her final days. There are angels among us. Donations in Gloria’s memory maybe made to your local SPCA or to the Multiple System Atrophy Society.
“Remember me, and let the love we have live on and know that I’m with you, the only way that I can be. So, until you’re in my arms again, Remember me.”
