It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clayton Thomas “Tom” Eavis, age 87, on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care in Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, November 4, 1936, Tom was the son of the late Clayton and Margaret (Strickland) Eavis.
He was employed as a stevedore with CN Marine, later Marine Atlantic until his retirement. Tom was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping, he loved being in the woods. He also enjoyed doing carpentry.
Tom is survived by many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Karen Eavis, Bernice (Hughie) Moore, Sandra (Mike) McVicar, Audrey (Phil) Harris, Debbie (Russell) MacDougall and Diane Blagdon. Besides his parents Tom was predeceased by his wife Yvonne (Blagdon) Eavis, by a son Stephen David in infancy, brothers Cyril (Bonnie), Ronnie (Joan), Philip and Ward Eavis.
No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, to be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
