Augustin, fondly known as grand-père to us, and
Gut to most others, fought a long hard battle until his very last
breath. And despite his long illness with COPD, he
showed great strength and determination over these past
years!
Augustin worked in the fishing industry for most of his
career and always showed exemplary work ethics. He took pride in what
he did, both on the job and at home. After a long
day’s work, he spent many evenings/days out in the yard,
either working in his green house or in his garden. When he
wasn’t puttering around the yard, you could find him in his
“shed”. He loved his tools and he and his wife
Norma spent numerous hours together working on woodworking
projects.
What stood out the most is that he truly enjoyed talking to
people! No matter where he was and who was around, he loved
striking up conversations. His sense of humor was also
appreciated and often unexpected! In fact, he still had a few funny
comments to share during his last days.
He also adored his grandkids! He loved them dearly
and was very proud of the wonderful young adults they’ve all
become.
Throughout his illness, his wife Norma was his primary
caregiver. She was his rock and we are all so thankful for
her dedication, hard work and commitment to ensuring he was taken care
of with the utmost love, care and compassion. He was truly
blessed to have her and acknowledged this on so many occasions. Her
unwavering dedication is truly something to admire and we are all so
thankful and proud!
Grand-père, you will be missed dearly!
