BELLIVEAU, Jean Louis – 81 ans, du Lac à Victor est décédé soudainement, le jeudi 29 août 2024 à l’hôpital régional de Yarmouth. Né à l’Anse-des-Belliveaus, il était fils de feu Basile et Evelyn (Melanson) Belliveau.
Il laisse en deuil son frère, René; ses sœurs, Hélène (Duncan) Armstrong, Jeannine; nièces, Jacinte et Janik.
Jean Louis Belliveau a consacré sa vie à préserver et à renforcer la fierté des Acadiens envers leur langue, leur musique et leur culture. Sa créativité et sa volonté d’aider les autres à explorer et à être fiers de leur patrimoine Acadien ont jeté les bases d’une renaissance culturelle acadienne dynamique qui continue de se répercuter aujourd’hui. Sa passion pour la musique et la littérature l’a poussé à l’écriture de nombreux livres et chansons, ainsi qu’à la création d’un alphabet et d’une langue écrite acadienne. Sa passion pour l’apprentissage et l’enseignement ne s’est jamais éteinte et son héritage de pionnier Acadien se poursuivra chez tous ceux qu’il a touchés.
Les arrangements funéraires ont été confiés à la Maison funéraire de Meteghan. Les visites auront lieu le dimanche 1 septembre, de 18h à 20h. Une cérémonie publique aura lieu à l’ancienne Église Saint-Bernard (3623 route 1, Saint Bernard, N.-É.), lundi à 11h.
Merci au personnel de la Villa Acadienne pour les soins pendant ses derniers mois et à la société secrète d’amis qui l’ont aidé dans des moments difficiles. Des dons en son nom peuvent être faits à la Villa Acadienne.

BELLIVEAU, Jean Louis – Age 81, of Victor Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 29th, 2024, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Belliveau Cove he was a son of the late Basile and Evelyn (Melanson) Belliveau.
He leaves behind brother, René; sisters, Hélène (Duncan) Armstrong, Jeannine; nieces, Jacinte and Janik.
Jean Louis Belliveau spent his life striving to preserve and enhance the pride of Acadians in their language, music and culture. His creativity and selflessness in helping others explore and embrace their Acadian heritage, laid the groundwork for a vibrant Acadian cultural renaissance that continues to reverberate today. His passion for music and literature led him to write many books and songs, and to the creation of an Acadian alphabet and written language. His passion for both learning and teaching was never extinguished, and his legacy as an Acadian trailblazer will continue in all those that he touched.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home, where visitation will take place Sunday, September 1st, from 6-8 p.m. A public ceremony will be held in the former Saint Bernard Church (3623 Highway #1, Saint Bernard, N.S.) on Monday, at 11 a.m.
