It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Gerard Neima, 64, of Garden Lots, announce his passing on June 28, 2024, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Richard and Marie (MacGillivray) Neima. Raised in Dartmouth, he began working for the family jewelry business, Neima Bros Ltd., before finding his niche in accounting and entrepreneurship. He dedicated himself to Sackville Minor Hockey for many years and supported many charitable causes including Brockwell/Edwards House and the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Richard was predeceased by his dearly beloved wife, Sherry (Rolfe), with whom he shared many years of love and adventure. Together, they found peace relaxing by the water, watching the sunset on their back deck or exploring Lunenburg’s Back Harbour in their pontoon boat. They also spent many winters soaking up sun with friends and family in Barefoot Bay, Florida. We take great comfort in knowing that Richard and Sherry are now on another adventure together.
Richard is survived by his children, Rick (Amanda MacSween) Neima, Christina Neima, Andrew (Caitlin Anderson) Neima; grandchildren, Grayson and Ava; brothers, Jack (Lianne), Paul (Trish); sisters, Marina (Carl) Burns, Denise (Dwayne) Wilson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Jennifer Hilchey, who has been a great companion to Richard over the past few years. We would also like to thank Dr. Rob Harris & Dr. Heather Johnson, along with the entire staff at the South Shore Regional Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. 3, Lunenburg. Funeral service will take place at St. Norbert’s Roman Catholic Church, 121 York St, Lunenburg, NS, on a date yet to be finalized. Father Keith Billard officiating. A small, private interment will follow with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the South Shore Regional Hospital.
