Phylis Madalyn Conrad Mosher, 93, of First South, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in First South in 1930, Phylis is predeceased by her parents, Laura and Elton Conrad.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Warren, and their four children, Tanis MacDougall (Bill), Paula Himmelman (David), Conrad Mosher (Darlene) and Nancy Tanner. Her 8 grandchildren, Dewar (Jessica), Liberty, Kelly (Danny), Laura, Andrew (Lesley), Ryan (Meghan), Julia (Chris), Nicolas (Jenna) and her 7 great grandchildren Ben, Nina, Henry, Mac, Gracie, Gabe and Luca. She is also survived by her niece Sonia Ottens (Ronnie), her sisters-in-law, Barbara Kinsella, Pam Mosher, Debbie Dangelo and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her older brother, Marshall; her sister-in-law, Betty; her nephew, David; her older sister, Lucille; her nephew, Marshall Oickle; and her brother-in-law, Bob Kinsella; son-in-law, Trevor Tanner.
Phylis lived a long and well lived life. She was an accomplished self-trained artist and poet, often painting and writing about the things closest to her: her family and the natural beauty of her home in coastal Nova Scotia. She loved music and playing the piano while surrounded by her family.
In 1951, she met her husband Warren of 68 years and together they raised their family in Newton, Massachusetts, where she made many lifelong friends and enjoyed the city lights and energy of Boston. After moving back to Lunenburg in 1975, she travelled many miles with her husband back and forth to both Massachusetts and Florida.
Phylis was happiest and the most alive when surrounded by her family. She was adored by her children and then later in life by each of her 8 grandchildren. She dedicated her time to supporting them in their many activities, and showered them with endless love, affection, and postcards along the way.
Phylis will forever be remembered by those who knew her for her incredible ability to perfectly cook you the most delicious meal. Her recipes will be handed down for generations as her great grandchildren are already starting to learn to cook her recipes. Her meals were made with all of her heart.
Her soul was deeper than the ocean, her love was stronger than the tides and her heartbeat was for her family. Love you forever, Sweetie! x oooo
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rosedale Home for Special Care for their wonderful and compassionate care of Phylis for the last 4 years.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg where a service to celebrate Phylis’s life will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care, the Alzheimer Society or an animal shelter.
