It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick Joseph Palangio, 87, of Rose Bay, and formerly of Orangeville, ON, announce his passing on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Cochrane, ON, he was a son of the late Michael and Anne (Sheridan) Palangio.
Pat spent his entire working career with Ontario Hydro where he held many positions over the years from lineman to instructor at their training center, including time in Belize assisting in the set up of their electrical grid. He retired in 1994 after 38 years. After spending their summers in Rose Bay, NS, he and Evelyn made the move permanently in 2017. Pat was a fun, kind and gentle man who in his spare time enjoyed getting out on the golf course, being on Georgian Bay as captain of his sailboats the Paddy Fox and Moonshadow, time on the ice curling, traveling and spending time with friends, family and his dogs.
Patrick is survived by his wife Evelyn; son, Patrick William (Cathy), Grimsby, ON; daughter, Mary Anne (John Filipetto) Palangio, Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Hannah, Jamie, Grace, Sarah; daughter–in–law, Lisa; and sister-in-law, Rita.
Besides his parents, Pat was predeceased by his sons, Ian Martin and Anthony Todd “Tony”; and brother, Michael.
The family is deeply grateful for the excellent care, compassion and respect given to Pat and them by the medical community from the paramedics to the emergency room doctors and staff and the 4th floor nursing staff and doctors of the South Shore Regional Hospital. We could not have asked for better care.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Grimsby, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
