Loren Elliott Greek, 77, of Windsor and formerly of Blue Rocks passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Bernard and Maude (Miller) Greek.
In his early years, Loren was a faithful member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church where he was actively involved in the work of the church.
Loren’s seagoing career began as a mariner with the Bedford Institute of Oceanography where he received his master ticket in 1980. Loren then went on to work with Dome Petroleum, retiring in 1995 after 29 years at sea in a career that provided him the opportunity to travel all over the world.
His later years were spent in Windsor where he worked as a custodian for several companies.
Loren is survived by sister, Glenda (George) Czmola, Winnipeg, MB; brother-in-law, Gary Tanner, Stonehurst; nephews, Mark Tanner, Shawn (Jennifer) Tanner, Craig (Danielle) Tanner, Dustin (Val) Czmola and Jason Czmola.
Besides his parents Loren is predeceased by sister, Cheryl and niece, Melissa.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213
Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A graveside and committal service will be held in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Loren’s memory to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks or the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
