Vivian Marie Dixon
1933-2024
On November 23rd,
Vivian Marie (Mahé) Dixon passed away peacefully in the
Valley Regional Hospital, almost a month shy of her 91st birthday. The
only daughter of Minnie (Murphy) and Constant Mahé, Vivian
was born on December 27, 1933, in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia. Her life
would take her to various towns, but Wedgeport would always be
home.
Vivian spent her
professional life as a Supreme Court Stenographer and a Justice of the
Peace. When she retired, she traveled, including visiting Ireland, the
homeland of the Murphy clan. Vivian was very proud to be a Murphy
descendant. When she wasn’t working or with her family, Vivian was an
avid reader, a gardener, and she loved going for drives. She loved
music, whether she was listening to it, playing the piano, or singing,
and would never miss an evening watching Jeopardy and Wheel of
Fortune.
If there is one thing
to remember about Vivian, it was that she did things her way, right up
until the very end. That was important to her.
Vivian is predeceased
by her parents and her brother, Constant “Connie”,
who died in infancy. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia; son,
Chris, as well as her grandchildren, Kelly (Lorrie), Amanda, and Sean
(Mandy) Rogers. She also has two great grandchildren, MacKenize and
Austin.
Vivian was an avid
reader right until the end, so in lieu of flowers, the family asks you
to donate to your library or a charity of your choice.
There will be no
funeral as per Vivian’s request. Interment will be at a later date in
Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
