Martha Ruth Vera (Brown) Munroe
1935-2024
Martha Ruth Vera
(Brown) Munroe, 89, was born in East Halls Harbour on August 28, 1935,
and passed away December 11, 2024, at home, as she wanted. Mom was
predeceased by her parents, Vernon David (1986) and Violet Viola
(Sanford) Brown (1969). She married her husband, Bligh Moore Munroe on
June 13, 1953 and they were married for 42 years until he passed away
on March 12, 1996.
Martha was a caring
wife to her husband, Bligh and a loving mother to her seven children.

care giver these past few years; Neal (Harlene), Kingston, NS; and
Vaughn, Digby, NS. Four daughters, Valerie (late Leslie) Karayz, New

Daphnie C., Brenton M., Alexander M., Tasha D., Micheal D., Kyle F.
and Steven F. Great Grandchildren: Braydon, Brandon, Leah, Chantelle,
Mahalya, Clayton, Nikita, Jaida, Jonathan, Preston, Brinlee.

Mom is survived by her
last remaining sister, Melina Colburn, New Brunswick; sister-in-law,
Betty Jean (Munroe) Rafuse, New Minas, NS; sister-in-law, Joan Munroe,
Greenwich, NS; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and
spouse, mom was predeceased by sisters, Flora Sanford and Verna Rees;
brothers, Douglas, Edward and Howard Brown; brother-in-law Laurie
Munroe; sister-in-law Belva Munroe; and 4 nephews.
Mom was baptized on
December 06, 2001, as one of Jehovah’s Witness’.
She had great love for Jehovah God, and for her Kingdom Hall family.
Mom had a strong faith and is looking forward to the resurrection
promise of when all things on earth will be made new and the heavenly
government to rule the earth.
Mom stayed at home
raising her 7 children until the youngest went off to school. Mom then
went to work at Coby Foods in Kentville for 12 years which she left to
stay home and look after her father-in-law Wylie Munroe until his
passing in 1989 and sister-in-law Belva Munroe until March 1996.
Before her two youngest children came along, mom also looked after a
neighbor Everett Lyle after his wife passed away until his
passing.
Mom loved to bake and
cook and was always up to trying a new recipe. Whenever anyone came,
it was always, “Have you eaten”, “let me get you
something to eat”. I don’t think anyone ever walked
away hungry. She was kind to everyone and everyone that met mom always
spoke very highly of her too. Mom loved to go for drives and was
always up for a good game of cards, many a weekend were had with
friends and family gathered around the dining room table either at
home, or at Lorraine and Curtis’, or some other friends
place playing 45’s. Mom will be missed dearly by
many.
The family would like
to say thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at Valley Regional Hospital
(VRH) who took great care of our mother during her few stays in the ER
and Med A over this past year. We would also like to extend a huge
thank you to mom’s “VON girls” for all their
kindness and compassion over the past few years. Donations may be made
to VON Annapolis Valley or www.jw.org. Family
flowers only.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation by request. The Memorial of
Martha will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 in the
