1948-2024
James August
“Jim” Brewster – 76, formerly of
Wolfville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024 in
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Hantsport, he was a son
of the late Louise (States) Brewster.
Prior to early
retirement, Jim worked many years in construction. He took pride in
his work, contributing to many local buildings that will remind us of
him in years to come. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, boating,
hunting, and golf. He was never happier than when he was in nature and
found real joy in feeding and watching wild birds. He and his family
spent many happy summers at his camp on Little River Lake and hosted
dear friends there for an annual fishing tournament, which was really
just an excuse to bring the group together from across the province. A
longtime member of the Wolfville Lions Club, Jim enjoyed many years of
volunteering his time and service within the community.
Jim leaves behind his
daughter, Kayte Brewster, Wolfville, and her mother, Kerri (Stevens)
Brewster, Halifax; his brother John Brewster and sister Sheila (John)
Rafuse; his sister-in-law, Jane Davis; and several nieces and extended
family members. He was predeceased by his mother
Louise.
The family extends
sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Valley Regional
Hospital for their compassionate care during Jim’s final weeks, and to
the wonderful staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville,
where Jim resided since his stroke in 2018.
As per Jim’s
wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or
funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory can be made
to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted
to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
