Charles Henry “Chuck” Hudson
1957-2024
Charles Henry
“Chuck” Hudson, 66, of Nictaux, passed away on
Friday, November 15, 2024, in the Valley Hospice. Born in Pereaux, he
was a son of the late Gerald and Elsie (McKiel) Hudson.
Growing up in Pereaux
granted Chuck all the benefits of a rural childhood, he loved the
freedom and opportunity for adventure that came with the area. Chuck
enjoyed walks to the beach, and working in the garden and in the apple
orchards. He enjoyed reminiscing on those times and telling stories of
his youth.
Chuck attended
vocational school to become a certified welder. During this time, he
and his classmates were called upon to design and fabricate the
Kentville crest, which is affixed to the Kentville Heritage Centre
building, this was very much a point of pride for
Chuck.
Chuck was known to be
a hard worker and a proud worker; he worked with Canard Poultry in
various roles for 21 years. Following his career with Canard Poultry,
Chuck drove a taxi for almost 17 years. Chuck was far from shy, and
loved to put himself out there, taxi driving granted him lots of
opportunities to socialize and meet new people to tease; he was known
to have quite a sense of humor.
Being an active member
of the Canning Fire Department was a huge part of Chuck’s
life. Known to many, he was a member of the department for over 27
years. He trained many recruits during his time there, the ones he
didn’t manage to scare off with his antics. Chuck was loyal,
dedicated and reliable, he would walk from Kingsport to Canning daily
for work and to the fire hall.
Above all, Chuck loved
being a father and a grandfather. Never was he prouder than when his
first grandchildren were born. He cherished the time he got to spend
with his family. On November 6, 2024, Chuck remarked that he had the
best day he’s had in ages, he got to spend the whole day
with both of his daughters, even getting the chance to leave hospice
to go for a drive.
Chuck is survived by
his daughters, Ashley and Kandice; brothers, Frederick (Wendy), George
(Ruth), John (Gladys) and David (Linda); sister, Helen (Austin
“Bub”) Stevens; grandchildren, Layne, Samual, Keara
and Liam; his former wife, Penny, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his
parents, Chuck was predeceased by sisters, Shirley, Donna and Darlene,
and his brother Gerald Jr.
A funeral service for
Chuck will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 (with
livestream) in the White Family Funeral Home. Following the service,
an interment will take place in the Pereaux Cemetery.
Donations in memory
may be made to Valley Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society or the
