Lake, Darrell “Kevin” – 66 of East Walton NS; it is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband and father, Kevin, who left us October 4, 2024. Born in East Walton on April 22, 1958, he was the son of the late Milton and Margaret (Ward) Lake.
Kevin was a shy passionate man who made friends everywhere he went always leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all fortunate to have known him. A pilar of strength and a beacon of love, Kevin’s absence leaves a void in our hearts.
Kevin held a diploma in retail meat cutting, Sydney, Cape Breton in 1978 and finished his apprenticeship at Mike Oulton’s, Windsor. He enjoyed cutting meat in a little shop for all his friends and neighbours. Many laughs and yarns could be heard coming from that little building.
Kevin held various jobs during his working career; rock-crusher, Walton Barite Mine, labourer, Seaport Construction, Ocean Construction, then to Brycon which became his work-family, establishing a great friendship with co-worker, Bryan. Kevin worked in the construction industry during his last 30 years, known as “the Icon of the construction world”. “Now we see why he didn’t want to retire”.
Kevin spent many good times playing guitar, laughing and making fond memories with friends: Claude MacCulloch, Levi Hill, Eric McLellan, Tom and Roger Lake, Jim Cameron, Murray Lake and many friends & family alike.
Kevin was devoted to his girls and was an ardent defender of them. He was witty and voiced his opinion on politics loudly. Kevin will be remembered for his magnetic personality that filled any and every room.
Kevin is survived by wife Teresa, East Walton, daughter Laura, Upper Sackville, brothers Dewayne, Alberta, Harold, Kennetcook, sister Dorothy (Shannon) White, Okotoks Alberta, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Kevin is predeceased by brothers Randy and Curtis both of East Walton, sister Wanda Eddy, Noel Road.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 1pm at 744 Hwy 215 East Walton, all are welcome.
