It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Miles Wallace Bishop, 59, at his childhood home in Fall River, due to an unknown heart issue.
Born in Halifax on July 16, 1965, Miles was the son of Doris (Yorke) and the late Bertram Thomas Bishop.
Survived by his mother; daughter Hailey (Brandon), son Gage and their mother Karen Pace; sister Joanne (Harley); nephews Tyler, Matthew and Zane, he leaves behind great-nephews Sam and Oliver, and great-niece Sydney, all of whom adored him, helping him with his garden and enjoying many giggles during their frequent visits. He will also be remembered by many loving aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his father, special grandmother Carrie B Yorke, and his beloved “unc” Donald Bishop of British Columbia.
Miles was educated in both auto and motorcycle mechanics, graduating from Halifax Vocational School, also graduating from the American Motorcycle Institute in Daytona, Florida. There wasn’t a motorcycle that he couldn’t tear down and rebuild. He was a certified carpenter and was proficient in small engine repairs. Miles lived in British Columbia for a decade, returning to his hometown of Fall River in 1998, where he was employed by the Oakfield Golf and Country Club for many years. Growing up, he loved trips to the family “camp” in The Forties, fishing, visiting old friends for a chat or making new ones. His soft heart held a special place for animals.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 3534 Route 2 in Fall River at 1 p.m., Rev. Dr. Jane Mcgrath officiating, to be followed by a reception. Interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church or the SPCA.
