Jeannette Marie Connolly (Nee Comeau)
February 20, 1931 – March 2, 2024

With sorrowful hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, and true friend, Jeanette Marie Connolly on March 2, 2024. A proud Acadian, born in Meteghan NS, to parents Desiré Joseph and Antoinette (Saulnier) Comeau. Her large close-knit Comeau family was a great joy to her.
After business college she moved to the “big city” of Halifax for a stenographer job at the Canadian Air Force. At a ballroom dance she met her lifelong partner and loving husband of 64 years, John (Jack) Connolly. She had a long and varied secretarial and administrative career, including for Butler Brothers Real Estate. She created and assisted Jack with two Scoops restaurants. Later, they jointly ran the Esquire Motel in Bedford. She also supported Jack in his deacon/chaplain roles. They were truly a team. Jeanette excelled at bowling in her thirties. She always loved playing cards, especially bridge. She was very social and loved to organize get-togethers in her building. For many years, Jeanette was very active in the church. She ran a prayer and support group. She co-organized Marriage Encounter weekends and the Halifax Cursillo movement.
She is predeceased by her husband Jack, daughter Denise and brothers Gerald (Mariette), Harold (Doris), Victor (Antoinette), Cecil (Irene).
She is survived by son Michael Connolly (Carol O’Beirne) of St. Lambert QC, daughters Susan Guest (Robert) of Hamilton MA and Sarah Oursin (Kenneth); siblings Louis Comeau (Clarice), Jeanne Comeau-Fortin of Halifax, Edmond Comeau (Louise) of Meteghan, Roy Comeau (Norah) of Ottawa ON, Sarah Comeau of Victoria BC; grandchildren Emma Lewin ( Rabih Salhab), Gregory Oursin (Chelsea Moriarty), Maxwell Lewin (Megan), Stefan Prychodko and Felix Connolly; great grandchildren Naya Salhab and Kora Lewin.
Thank you to the caring and very professional staff at The Birches, Ocean View Continuing Care Centre and the Dartmouth General Hospital. The funeral service will be held June 10, 2024 at 12:15 at St. Ignatius church, Bedford Highway.
